Underwater RPG 'Squids Odyssey' gets July release date on Switch THE GAME BAKERS

A different breed of squids are destined for the Nintendo Switch as Squids Odyssey, an underwater tactical turn-based RPG from developer The Game Bakers, is set to release on the console on July 5.

The squid-filled adventure takes place under the sea as a murky black ooze is turning once friendly crustaceans into cranky monsters.  With their realm under siege, a scrappy shoal of Squid heroes has no choice but to fight back.

Boasting a full RPG experience, the game features hero classes, stat-boosting helmets, and power-ups.  Furthermore, the game's levels and environments add a strategic element to the role-playing gameplay.

“While working on Furi for the Switch, we kept thinking that Squids would be a perfect fit for the console” says Emeric Thoa the game's Creative Director.  “You can use the touch screen or buttons and sticks, the format is perfect to enjoy the dialogues, the art shines on the small screen but you can also blast it full scale on a big TV, and you can take your game anywhere. We didn't know it then, but the game was actually designed for the Switch.”

The Game Bakers are promising 15 hours worth of gameplay spread out over 90 missions in the core game.  There is also a Pro Mode that consist of completely redesigned missions to double the challenge.
