A new MMOFPS is on its way from indie game studio Brain Stone GmbH.
Scheduled for alpha release onto Steam in late 2017 with a full launch planned for 2018, the newly-announced Pantropy takes place on a hostile alien world sometime around the year 2100 AD. In this future, generators exist that create wormholes that connect planets and make the colonization of foreign worlds possible. In Pantropy, players must band together in factions to endure the difficult challenges that unfold. Co-operative gameplay allows players to explore, gather resources, create custom bases, build mighty mechs individually or with others simultaneously, research new equipment, develop new technologies with an in-depth crafting system.
“I am a sci-fi guy and I read a lot of sci-fi books, etc.," says Producer Sebastian Kaulitzki. "Pantropy is basically the opposite of terraforming by adapting the human to the planet instead of the planet to the human--which fits well for our game.”
Pantropy features an “Anti-Offline-Raid System” that protects the player's base from getting raided and destroyed when the player is offline. The game also has what's called the “Friend or Foe Faction System”. It gives players the ability to team up with friends while lending them the ability to identify menacing foes inside their own faction by banning them or bounties on their head. Brain Stone says the game is set-up to reward for good behavior by ranking up in reputation or decreasing depending on the player's individual behavior.
“We added this system to reduce frustration and to increase the cooperative gameplay experience for our players," says Kaulitzki.
Once it launches in alpha via Steam, Pantropy's servers will host as many as 64 players simultaneously on a 64km² map. Brain Stone says future releases will support highly populated servers and larger battles. While the game is currently only planned for PC, the developers say that versions for PlayStation 4 and/or Xbox One are not out of the question at some point in the future.
Brain Stone was founded by Sebastian Kaulitzki in cooperation with Julian Kaulitzki in 2016 in Potsdam, Germany. Pantropy will be the company's first game.
